Screening and Sharing Session: 'Mount Davis: From Citadel to Campus'
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong, is hosting a screening and sharing session for the documentary "Mount Davis: From Citadel to Campus" This event invites the audience to explore the transformation of this Grade 3 historic building complex, which has undergone revitalization from neglect to a modern campus while integrating cultural heritage conservation.
The documentary narrates the history of the Mount Davis Battery, which survived the ravages of World War II and was later repurposed as the "White House" as well as The Victoria Road Detention Centre, where political prisoners were held during the 1967 riots. Today, this site has been revitalized into The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong, which now features a Heritage Courtyard and Interpretation Centre designed to promote public education about cultural heritage.
