VISIT

Q:What are the current campus access arrangements for Chinese University of Hong Kong?  
A:Please refer to the Notices of Security Office of the University.


Q:Where is the Hall?  
A:Central Avenue, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong


Q:How do I get there?
A:Visitors can take the buses nos. 72、72A、73A and 74A or take green mini-buses nos. 28K and 28S in New Territories to enter through University Gate Entrance; or take the MTR to University Station (Exit A or D) and take a walk to the Hall through the campus by following the walking routers. There are also paid shuttle light bus stops near the Hall and MTR station.


Q:Can I take the school bus if I am neither a staff member nor a student of CUHK?
A:The school bus is exclusive for students and staff of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Tourists should arrange their own transportation for destinations within the campus. If the event that held involves a lot of participants that require campus transportation from one area to another, please inform the Hall (for CUHK Departments, please inform Transport Office and Security Office of the University directly) and the hirer should arrange own campus transportation for their participants.


Q:Does the Hall has public parking area?
A:The Hall has no public parking area, patrons may park their cars at the nearby carparks if needed. For parking information, please check the Parking Regulations & Fees and Parking Area of Security Office of the University.


Q:What are the arrangements under inclement weather conditions?

Q:Can I bring food or drinks into the Hall?
A:No eating or drinking is allowed in the Hall except in the Foyer.


Q:Are there any vending machines, water dispensers or water fountains in the Hall?
A:No, there are no vending machines, water dispensers or water fountains in the Hall. For locations of water dispensers/water fountains, please check the Locations of water dispensers/water fountains on campus of Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Office of the University.


Q:I lost something in the Hall. Is there a lost and found?
A:If you’ve lost an item in the Hall, please reach out to staff onsite or contact us at (852) 3943 7857 for assistance.


Q:Are there any lift services for the Gallery in the Hall?
A:No, there is no lift services in the Hall. 


Q:What facilities are available at the Hall to assist persons with disabilities?
A:Auditorium spaces for wheelchairs are available at Stalls at the Hall by prior arrangement at the time of ticket booking. Physical facilities include:

  1. Wheelchair ramps at Foyer
  2. Toilets at G/F designed for people with physical disabilities

Q:Can I make a pencil-marked booking before submitting the booking form?
A:Unfortunately, no.


Q:Can I make a reservation for site visit?
A:Please email srrsh@cuhk.edu.hk for more information.


Q:Are the Hall suitable for children programme, such as kindergarten graduation ceremony or children performances?
A:For the most part, venue management will not consider any applications in connection with children programme. The reasons are,

  1. Sir Run Run Shaw Hall aims to serve the CUHK members, therefore, certain facilities may not be as friendly as some others for children audiences and performers; and
  2. For the preservation of good order and decency therein as a university venue; and
  3. Persons aged under 6 will not be admitted contrary to section 3 of the House Rules.

Q:Can I book a parking space in advance?
A:The Hall has no parking area, please use loading dock for material delivery. The Hall will provide up to 3 of limited time free parking coupons every booking day to the External Hirers of Auditorium. For parking information, please check the Parking Regulations & Fees and Parking Area of Security Office of the University.
