Biography of the instructor

阮漢威 Yuen Hon Wai

Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in Set and Costume Design, Yuen Hon- wai received the Best Costume Design Award from the 13th Hong Kong Drama Awards for The Good Person of Szechwan.

He has been focusing on designing for theatre and performing arts for more than a decade, having created about 200 set designs for arts performances including dance, dramas, musicals and concerts. From 2017 Yuen has served as an examiner (Drama)for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Yuen was nominated five times for the Best Stage Effect at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre Awards and once the Best Stage Effect at the Hong Kong Dance Awards. In 2017, he received the Best Set Design Award at the 26th Hong Kong Drama Awards for The Golden Dragon (Re-run) and Scenography of the Year at the lATC(HK) Critics Awards 2018 for Tête-bêche of On & On Theatre Workshop. In 2020, Yuen received the Best Set Design Awards by 29th Hong Kong Drama Awards for his design for Eve.
