Diary VII • The Story Of......

Diary VII • The Story Of......

Diary VII • The Story Of......  belongs to the Diary project started by our iconic dancer and choreographer, Mui Cheuk Yin in 1986. The series chronicles her childhood in China, her body and her dance career. "Diary VII" is Mui's first dance production centered around cats, after 30 years of rescuing stray cats. The work combines text, light and shadow, sound, fluid movements, and the imprints of the body to depict Mui's experiences alongside stray cats throughout the years. It seeks to explore the subtle parallels between feline steps, fluidity of home and her own philosophy of life. "Diary VII" (Spotlight: A Season of Performing Arts 2021) was awarded Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Small Venue Production at the 23rd Hong Kong Dance Awards 2022. It is also mentioned in Edinburgh Festival 2023: 50 shows to see by the Guardian.
