“The Way We Talk” Film Screening and Conversation
We are delighted to invite you to the “The Way We Talk” Screening and Conversation, a key highlight of the Diversity and Inclusion Festival 2024/25 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). This film explores the lives and growth of three young deaf individuals. The event aims to provide insights into “deaf identity” and the importance of embracing diverse perspectives and inclusion in society. Notably, some scenes were filmed on the CUHK campus!
We are deeply honoured to have invited Adam Wong (Director), Chung Suet-ying (Best Actress of 61st Golden Horse Awards), and Marco Ng (Actor) to share their experience and insights following the screening.
About the Film
“The Way We Talk” is produced by One World Film Production Co., Ltd., with the Lee Hysan Foundation as the Present & Philanthropic Partner, and co-produced by Liu Yuen-Hung, Ho Hong, and Adam Wong, directed by Adam Wong, Acted by Yau Hawk-sau, Chung Suet-ying, and Marco Ng.
Wolf, born into a Deaf family, embraces sign language with confidence despite obstacles in life; Sophie, having a cochlear implant at a young age, continuously strives to be seen as “normal”, despite struggling with oral language. Alan, with a cochlear implant like Sophie, is capable of both oral and sign language; he advocates for diverse modes of communication within the deaf community. Bound by love and friendship, the three embark on a self-discovering journey with their own moments of pain.
