FTA Local Guided Tour: The Prewar Tenement Buildings in Kowloon City

**Registration deadline:2023.3.10**

Brief introduction:

Kowloon City is one of the few old districts which compactly keep the fabric and architecture of the urbanization of Hong Kong in the last century. The prewar and postwar tenement buildings are particularly characteristic, inheriting some spatial usage common practices and aesthetics of the former Hong Kong people. These buildings were not architectural masterpieces, nor did they dwell by celebrities. What are their cultural values, and how to appreciate them before they disappear, are altered or give way for the coming urban renewal projects and future real estate development?

This guided tour would introduce the audience a brief history of the tenement buildings in Hong Kong. Some prewar tenement buildings in Kowloon City would be shown, analysed and discussed during the tour.
